This body of work is essentially a visual documentation / visual journal / mapping of the varying levels and degrees of processing idea and emotion on different planes. Understandings on intellectual, physical, aesthetic, other, or combinational paths. A structuring of a guide / legend / map to determine direction, and therefore a journey to be taken; whether into memory, present history or a felt future.
Each piece acts as its own personal / particular reference guide and map itself. When put together, such as in a "series", they form an atlas. Each acts as either town, city, state, country, continent, world or universe. A macro and micro and all phases between... asking questions about the pathways of our seeing and the tools and symbols we create to express and explain our experiences, not only to ourselves but for others as well. It is the act of asking these questions, or being open for them, that produces a space in which answers may be found- The context of color, imagery, word, movement and sound allows others to find their own way, while at the same time allowing me to share what and how I "see". Energy created, displaced and destroyed during the many processes of mapping memory.
